7th Phuket International Soccer 7s
The one and only Phuket Soccer 7s will celebrate its 7th anniversary this year. This tournament has developed into one of the largest 7s tournaments in Asia and we expect that the competition could reach 50 teams in 3 categories: Open Men, Masters (Over 35s), and Womens. (Participating teams last year will be given preference.)
Games are 7-minute halves, no offside, 3/4 size pitch (70m x 45m), full size goals, Interchange/rolling substitution.

This tournament is an invitation tournament that provide a socially competitive environment for players who approach the game with the right attitude and in the right spirit. With no prize money at stake, teams take part for one reason only: their love of soccer.

Inaugural Layan International Golf Challenge
You are cordially invited to take part in the inaugural Layan International Golf Challenge to be played over two days – Friday, May 1 and Saturday, May 2 – at the Laguna Phuket Golf Course.
There will be 24 teams of 4 players – 96 in all – taking part in a tournament which will involve both fourball and foursome play.

Boathouse evening with TV/film producer Ed Vaughan
PHUKET: The speaker in the first of a new season of popular literary evenings, Ed Vaughan, will talk about the art and science of writing, marketing and selling a feature film screenplay in today’s market. His presentation includes: differences between screenwriting and the writing of novels and short stories; the importance of structure and character development; reasons for the success of specific motion pictures; how to get scripts read by the right people, etc. He will, of course, answer questions.

The talented Nitaya Ueareeworakul hails from Udonthani in Thailand’s Northeast. Nitaya’s works focus on the female mind, body and soul. In her series, “Flowering Body”, Nitaya uses collage on canvas to combine fabrics tinted by soil and color to illustrate her perception of life as a mother and wife.

Songkran Festival (Thai New Year) – Public Holidays
Songkran (Thai New Year). Also known as the Water Festival. Held during the driest months in Thailand, Songkran is celebrated by Thais throughout the country by pouring – traditionally only a little, but these days a lot – of water on other people to wish them good luck for the New Year.

Laguna Phuket Sea Turtle Release Ceremony 2009
PHUKET: Get involved in one or all three charitable fund raisings:
– Purchase raffle tickets for a chance to release one of 15 turtles at 200 baht per ticket
– Bid in a silent auction for the release of 52 turtles, starting at 3,000 baht
– Bid in an open auction for the release of 3 turtles, starting at 10,000 baht.
